The last couple of weeks have been busy for me in the studio! Lots of different types of projects. I really like the idea that if I keep pushing this way, that some day soon I'll be able to support myself entirely by doing this sort of work. That's still a bit of a pipe dream at this point, but I'm going to keep going either way because I love audio work. Whether it's on the creative or technical side, I really doesn't matter to me. I crave it. I feel like I need it. I truly love it!
Anyway . . . here's all that I've been up to and things to look out for:
• I engineered, mixed and played drums on a score for an independent film. I got to work with the super talented musician/ actor Brad Carter who wrote and performed the score in my studio. We have been working off and on together for the last 2 months and last week we finally delivered our final version.
• Leilani and I finished production on another Dear Ocean song titled Stars. We're really excited about this one. Honestly, it feels great to be creating art and releasing records again with my wife!
• I finished another another round of voice-over demos for AK Studios. This is work that I just sort of fell into. I never in a million years thought I would be producing voice-over demos for actors, but I am and I love the work. The fact that you get to interact with so many people looking for any avenue to create is inspiring to me.
• It's rare that I get to do post production work, but when I do I usually get to work with a great group of guys at Silverlake Sounds. They've been kind enough to me to let me do a really loose internship and let that move into a freelance relationship. Last week I did a handful of music edits for them while they have a film being showcased at SXSW! Always appreciate the work when they have it.
• Lastly, I mixed another new song for Roberto Horns. This is definitely my favorite track I've worked on for him! I'm excited to see where this song goes. I feel like it has that thing that we all try to make happen when we write. Stay tuned for "Hostage"
That's it for now . . . . back to work!
